She can decide for herself what spot, angle or pressure feels good.

adult coloring book

For Long and Stressful Days: Maybe Swearing Will Help: Adult Coloring Book

If You’re a Daring Husband: Premium Fleece Blanket with Sleeves

If she’s too embarrassed to buy a Snuggie, buy her a “Premium Fleece Blanket with Sleeves.” It will offer the same hands-free convenience with a fuzzy blanket cover to keep her warm, but she won’t have to shrivel in shame for owning one of those as-seen-on-TV products.

Of course, if you really want to make her groan, you could buy the cheetah-spotted version instead of the muted gray one. But that’s between you and the couch that you’ll have to sleep on later.

cup cozy pillow

Comfort and Convenience: Cup Cozy Deluxe Pillow

Sometimes, the best gifts are functional ones. This portable cup holder can be used anywhere, including homes, hospitals, cars, offices, parks and more. It’ll be a lifesaver for someone with limited mobility after surgery, but its usefulness won’t expire once she’s back on her feet; she can still tote it to all kinds of parades and ball games.

Its flat surface is nice and stable for snacking, and its built-in cubbyholes are storage for everything from car keys to remote controls.

spoon

Isn’t That Punny: “Get Well Spoon” Novelty Spoon

This gift is exactly what it sounds like: a soup spoon with the words “get well spoon” engraved on the interior. It’s more of a decorative object than a functional spoon, but it could be used for light snacks like cereal without much trouble.

The most important thing is that it makes her laugh after an exhausting experience in surgery, so if you can accomplish that, it’s worth every cent.

T-shirt "mode on"

For the Technologically Inclined: “Recovery Mode: On” T-Shirt

This is another funny t-shirt for post-op patients. It says “recovery mode: on” with a health bar like a computer game, and it’s available in multiple sizes and colors to suit any woman in your life. If she’s the type to appreciate a simple, low-key gift, this might be a good choice.

Last but certainly not least, you can’t go wrong with a “get well soon” teddy bear. His fuzziness is perfect for cheek rubs, and his cute little shirt has a smile for anyone who sees it. He’s an appropriate gift for any kind of surgery or any kind of recipient.

Whether you’re shopping for a sweetheart or picking up something simple for a co-worker, the squishmallow can get the job done.

How To Pick The Best Post-Surgery Presents for Her

It takes a strong woman to go through breast cancer or another type of surgery and emerge on the other side.

If you want to celebrate that, you’ll need the right kind of gift. Here are just a few things to keep in mind when you’re shopping for post-surgery presents!

Convenience

This is the most important aspect of buying a gift for someone who is physically recovering from a procedure.

She might be stiff, sore or immobile for a long period of time, so her present needs to be something that she can enjoy even when she isn’t operating at 100 percent. Save the flashy and complicated gifts for another occasion. Keep it simple when she’s still healing.

Therapeutic Benefit

Some gifts are obviously meant for relaxation. Others might surprise you with their positive qualities; adult coloring books, for example, are known to reduce stressafter a mastectomy , improve fine motor control and release serotonin in the brain for cancer patients.

Your gift doesn’t have to come from a spa to have therapeutic benefit.

Sentiment

The whole point of a “get well soon” gift is to let the other person know that you’re thinking of them.

You don’t have to get sappy if that’s not your style; there are plenty of gag gifts that can still inspire warm and fuzzy feelings. Just make sure that your gift is a personal, thoughtful one. Don’t buy something that you wouldn’t want to receive yourself.

These are just a few tips for buying post-surgery presents for the woman in your life. Whether she’s a mother, girlfriend, sister or BFF, you’ll want to buy her something nice. This is your chance to show that you care!

  1. Love these gift ideas…

    thanks for the article.

I recently had surgery and received a nice warm blanket that had the meaning of Kintsugi on it. Absolutely loved it.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art form that repairs broken pottery instead of discarding it, and puts gold in the repair, making it more beautiful and unique than before the breakage.

It reminded me to embrace my own journey and view the post surgery scars as my unique strength and beauty.
